Drift is a site-specific installation created in response to François Boucher’s Lovers in a Park (1758), part of the permanent collection of the Timken Museum of Art in San Diego. A 38-foot acrylic ink mural covers the wall of the gallery adjacent to the original painting. At its center, framed in gilt molding, an oil-on-glass animation runs with original sound design: black paint moves through an enlarged version of the Boucher canvas — consuming and releasing the figures, bleeding from the projection onto the physical wall.
